Call For Papers: Grandmothers and Grandmothering: Weaving Creative and Scholarly Perspectives in Honor of Our Women Elders

Demeter Press is seeking submissions for an edited collection entitled: Grandmothers and Grandmothering: Weaving Creative and Scholarly Perspectives in Honor of Our Women Elders (working title).

Editors: Kathy Mantas, PhD and Marion Dumont, PhD
Deadline for Abstracts: Friday, June 3, 2016

This edited collection will bring together essays from a wide range of disciplines and cultural perspectives to explore the textured and complex phenomena of grandmothers and grandmothering. Globally, whether they have been recognized or not, women as grandmothers have played important roles within their families and communities. They are the culture bearers, storytellers, teachers, mentors, and spiritual guides. Today, women are living longer, healthier lives and with greater access to resources than did their predecessors. The purpose of this anthology is to distinguish grandmothers and grandmothering and to highlight their influence on our lives and within our communities. Submissions from artists, academics, grandparents, mothers, fathers, adult children, healthcare practitioners, community workers, and activists are welcome. Creative (e.g., narrative, creative non-fiction, poetry, image-based) and scholarly submissions are encouraged and will be considered.
