CARLETON PRESENTS: CHILEAN–INDIGENOUS RELATIONS: SOME LESSONS FOR CANADA

Carleton University’s master’s in Public Administration concentration and graduate diploma program in Indigenous Policy and Administration presents a lecture entitled Chilean–Indigenous Relations: Some Lessons for Canada. The public is welcome to attend this lecture given by two of Chile’s leading scholars in the area of Chilean-Indigenous relations.

When: Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Speakers:

  • Andrés Jouannet Valderrama, from Alberto Hurtado University, Santiago will be giving a presentation entitled, The Political Participation‎ of Indigenous Peoples and their Electoral Behaviour.
  • José Marriman, from Alberto Hurtado University, Santiago is director of the Indigenous Studies Diploma and will be giving a presentation entitled Solutions to the Mapuche Issue from the Perspective of Chilean Elites: The Case for an Indigenous Ministry, and Examples of Late Indigenism.

Note: Chile’s ambassador to Canada, Alfonso Silva Navarro, will be joining the discussion and introducing the presenters.
