Screening of the film “Waban-Aki: People From Where the Sun Rises”

The Woodland Cultural Centre is presenting as part of the Teóiak’s Iakwatereró: Roks – “We Watch Movies” film series, a virtual screening of the film “Waban-Aki: People From Where the Sun Rises”, on August 24, 2022, at 7pm. The film is directed by Alanis Obomsawin and following the film will be a Q&A session with our Curator, Patricia Deadman.

In partnership with the National Film Board (NFB) this feature-length documentary from Alanis Obomsawin, filmmaker, as she returns to the village where she was raised to craft a lyrical account of her own people. After decades of tirelessly recording others’ stories, she focuses this film on her own.
