“The Ephemerals: Outpost” exhibits the accumulated work of The Ephemerals (Jaimie Isaac, Niki Little, and Jenny Western), from films, performance documentation, interventions, collaborations, related material culture and generated output such as clothes, zines, and installations. In addition, The Ephemerals will open a commercial gallery within Urban Shaman’s main gallery space.

“We endeavour to raise the profile of the sale and collection of artwork by professional contemporary Indigenous artists in Winnipeg. The historic impact of Daphne Odjig’s New Warehouse Gallery on the contemporary Indigenous art scene, both locally and nationally, is undeniable and we aim to honour that legacy by promoting artists at a grassroots community level while developing relationships with potential collectors and art patrons.”

The exhibition as a whole will reflect the backgrounds of the collective members as artists and curators as well as sharing the spotlight with other Winnipeg-based contemporary Indigenous artists.

Urban Shaman: Contemporary Aboriginal Art Gallery acknowledges the support, throughout the year, of our friends, volunteers, community and all our relations, NCI FM, Wawanesa Insurance, the Winnipeg Arts Council, the Manitoba Arts Council, the Canada Council for the Arts.   ~MIIGWETCH / HAI HAI
