Day 1 – Wednesday, October 14
Welcome Gathering Pow Wow and
Opening Night Gala + Party

WHO:
The official kickoff for the 16th annual imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival begins with a Welcome address and stunning performances by Indigenous artists from around the world. After opening remarks from Executive Director, Jason Ryle, Sámi artist, Elle Márja Eira will perform a traditional Joik song, followed by a Pow Wow and round dance by Smoke Trail Group.

Later in the evening, imagineNATIVE will screen MEKKO as the Opening Night Gala. The director of MEKKO, Sterlin Harjo, along with stars of the film, will attend the gala for an exclusive audience Q&A following the screening.

Finally, the imagineNATIVE Opening Night Party will bring together stars of the Indigenous film and entertainment industry to celebrate the week ahead. The list of attending VIP guests is available upon request.

imagineNATIVE is the world’s largest Indigenous festival presenting distinctive Native film and art from around the globe.

The 16th imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival will be held October 14-18, 2015.
