
IGLOOLIK, NUNAVUT—Isuma, the artist collective led by Zacharias Kunuk, is proud to present a new work, Silakut Live from the Floe Edge, created as part of Isuma’s exhibit at the Canada Pavilion at the 58th Biennale Arte 2019 in Venice, Italy, and broadcast live from Nunavut to global audiences.
Isuma will broadcast Silakut Live from the Floe Edge from May 8–11, 2019 online at isuma.tv/live
Each broadcast will include footage filmed live from north Baffin Island and will include conversations with Igloolik hunting families on the impact and benefits of proposed mining expansion in the region.

Presented by the National Gallery of Canada, Isuma’s exhibit at the Canada Pavilion in Venice runs from May 11 – November 24, 2019. This is the first presentation of art by Inuit in the Canada Pavilion, and coincides with the United Nations’ International Year of Indigenous Languages.
