Your Team & Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Equity and Inclusion, the Advisor will provide strategic advice on directions, strategies and initiatives. In this context, you will be called upon to support senior management with the vision and directions to be implemented, in addition to operationalizing a strategic plan to make CBC an even more diverse and inclusive workplace. Your duties will involve working closely with and advising our various business units and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders, organizations and authorities.

One of the business units you will be working with is Digital Strategy & Products, the department that creates our online experiences for audiences such as CBC.ca and CBC Gem app. Their inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility initiatives are centred around reflecting contemporary Canada in who they are, what they build and how they work.

 

As Advisor, Equity and Inclusion, you will:

Participate in the development of organization-wide diversity and inclusion initiatives and strategies in alignment with CBC’s Corporate Strategy and other company-wide D&I strategies.
Propose recommendations to the organization on any relevant policies or programs to ensure a more diverse workplace. Structure action plans and ensure their effective deployment.
Work closely with CBC as an advisor and subject matter expert, and shape their initiatives and practices to foster an inclusive and diverse workplace, focusing on underrepresented communities such as Indigenous employees and employees with disabilities.
Develop and measure Digital Strategy & Products’ diversity and inclusion goals.
Identify key players in the external community, including vendors, and build lasting partnerships.
Act as an ambassador of CBC in the area of employee diversity with external partners.
Collaborate on developing an internal and external visibility and communication plan to achieve CBC’s equity, diversity and inclusion objectives.
Identify and propose strategies and actions to encourage leaders to adopt practices that promote openness and acceptance of diversity and that value equity and inclusion.
Propose and oversee the deployment of relevant training and awareness activities to reinforce a culture of equity and inclusion.

Essential Qualifications
University degree in a relevant area of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
An EDI (Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) designation from a post-secondary school or reputable EDI agency.
3 to 5 years of professional experience in, and understanding of, complex issues related to equity, diversity, and inclusion in a corporate workplace.
Experience leading initiatives that promote diversity, accessibility, and inclusion.
Collaborative and team-oriented leadership style.
Experience designing and delivering educational programs, internally or with vendors.
Strong project management skills.
Experience creating frameworks and measuring progress towards EDI goals.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation and mediation skills.
Maintain a thorough understanding of issues related to accessibility, culture, disability, diversity, equity, gender, Indigeneity, race, spirituality and their intersections.
Problem-solving mindset.
Ability to listen to and support those at CBC/Radio-Canada who are learning about equity, diversity, and inclusion issues and who may have different levels of knowledge and appreciation in respect to this work.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
