Why is this role important?
Digital is a key part of our present and our future. CBC/Radio-Canada’s strategy is to engage Canadians with personalized authenticated experiences. A foundational component of that strategy is the development of a single-sign on experience and system that is secure, scalable and usable. You’ll product manage the development of this system, and the end to end connected experience of a CBC/RC user.

How you will make an impact:
You will play an active role in CBC/Radio-Canada’s digital development of an SSO product and ensure that our audience members have a seamless experience across all digital products. Your mission will be to build out a best in class authentication experience for CBC/Radio-Canada.
You will deeply understand our customers’ problems, business needs, and competitive marketplace to contribute meaningfully to the strategic roadmap.
You will take ownership of the product and drive strategy and execution alignment across multiple product teams and their strategic roadmaps.
You will lead and complete efforts in understanding customer needs, defining epics, user stories, business/technical requirements.
You will collaborate closely with Software Architects, developers, UX leads, marketing and other cross functional teams to define product needs to create a great customer experience.
You will work across both English and French business lines, understanding where needs align, and how to prioritize all requirements to support overarching business objectives.
This will require a high degree of emotional intelligence, understanding the differences between the operations of the two business lines, and catering to those differences.
You will work on an SSO product and its features that will effectively utilize the federated data across our systems to create an enriched understanding of our target audience.
You will enhance account creation and user authentication (Single Sign-On Experience) to enrich the user experience through data analysis, identification of best practices.
You will contribute to define and refine the strategy and select the tools to enable customer identity, access management, and community engagement.
You will lean on audience member behaviours and expectations to develop a personalized experience.
You will combine audience member and product strategy demands to create a differentiated and relevant authentication experience for the CBC / Radio-Canada audience.
You will be responsible for creating a roadmap aligned with our technological ecosystem, listening to the business needs of the business and explaining technology choices to the broader CBC / Radio-Canada.
You will maintain close collaboration with the web and mobile application development and business intelligence teams.
You will be an influencer in the future of building CBC/Radio-Canada’s core infrastructure.
You will guide the team to understand how member data can be utilized to enable better personalization of our digital products.
You will act on behalf of our target audience in establishing and following best practices to manage data security and privacy so that we maintain the trust of Canadians.
You will nurture a culture of collaboration, learning and creativity.
You will bring support to the work of a cross-functional team providing mentorship and direction.
What you could bring to our team:
- University degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
Five (5) years of experience in digital product management as Product Owner, Product Manager, Seasoned Developer, Architect or Technical Business Analyst. - Hands-on experience working with customer identity and access management technologies, databases and data integration.
Understanding of:
- SSO and CIAM technologies,
- Schema design and how to create a unified schema across federated data sources,
- APIs – how they send and receive data,
- Data security and privacy,
- Personalization
- Good understanding of the Agile methodology for digital product development
Good experience in:
- Build / measure / learn development cycle
- Evolving a service into a platform that can be utilized by multiple products with minimal dependencies
- Prioritization skills and the ability to adapt to a large number of varied projects in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong stakeholder management skills – including the ability to influence stakeholders across organizations and borders
- Strong communications skills – you can summarize and express complex requirements in an accessible and precise manner
- Ability to navigate ambiguous situations, gather data, build intuition and develop strategy.
- Ability to manage a team and keep them motivated.
- Strategic thinker and an idea-generator
- Bilingualism (English and French) spoken and written, or at minimum an ability to work within a bilingual team.
- Comfortable with working with remote teams based in both Montreal and Toronto.
- Available to travel at least once a month in either one of these two cities.
