Sturgeon Public School Division is currently seeking a Full-Time Temporary Cree Language Instructor to join the skilled and engaging learning teams at Sturgeon Composite High School and Camilla School.
The successful applicant needs to speak Cree, be highly organized, creative and able to develop a safe, stimulating classroom environment centered on lessons that are actively engaging to students and encourage student success in learning Cree language and culture.
Sturgeon Composite High School, located just minutes north of the City of Edmonton, has a dedicated teaching and support staff team working collaboratively to provide exemplary education to approximately 800 students (grades 10-12).
Camilla School is located 15 minutes northwest of the City of St. Albert in the Hamlet of Riviere Que Barre. Camilla School includes diverse programming from Early Childhood to grade 9 with 500 students and 36 staff. Camilla School has a strong culture of educational excellence and support for students with diverse learning needs.
Assignment: 1.0 FTE; Full-Time Temporary Teacher from August 27, 2021 to June 30, 2022
Qualifications:
- A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Understanding and experience with Cree language and culture
- Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
- Experience working with diverse needs in a classroom setting
- Knowledge and experience integrating technology into learning
- Completion of Indigenous studies or related course work would be an asset
- Experience and knowledge of local Indigenous heritage and cultures would be an asset
New employees to Sturgeon Public School Division are required to provide a clear, recent (within 6 months) criminal record check with vulnerable sector included (from your local RCMP station) prior to the commencement of employment.
