JOIN US FOR DREAMSPEAKERS FILM FESTIVAL – SEPT 20 to 23, 2017!

Edmonton, AB (September 6, 2017) – Founded in 1993, Dreamspeakers is one of the longest running international Indigenous film festivals in the world.

This year we’re presenting and celebrating local, national and international Indigenous innovation in film, video, radio and new media, as well as culture and heritage.

This 4 day festival features over 15 amazing, and must-see films.   Highlights include NFB-produced The Road Forward (Director Marie Clements), the Māori classic Once Were Warriors (Director Lee Tamahori), Sun at Midnight (Writer, Director & Producer Kirsten Carthew), and films by award-winning and home-grown talent; ôtênaw by Conor McNally and Cree Code Talker by Alexandra Lazarowich. The festival will feature various short films on Thurs Sept 21 and Sat Sept 23, and a special selection of Latin Indigenous films and talk-backs presented by guest curator Antonio Coello.

Festival goers can also watch short films in the lobby of Metro Cinema with our new Short Film Gallery.

Join us this year as we honour the “Generation Rising” by bringing back Youth Day! This special event on Thurs Sept 21, will see over 100 youth from across Alberta participate in a one-day film creation workshop with film professionals.

The Dreamspeakers Film Festival invites Indigenous and non-Indigenous film lovers alike to come out, be inspired by powerful stories, and eat real popcorn!
