MIDNIGHT SHINE RETURNING TO CMW

Attawapiskat ON (April 11, 2017) — In the span of just a few weeks, Midnight Shine’s frontman Adrian Sutherland will have gone from battling NHL hockey greats on the ice at JUNO Cup… to traveling by snowmobile with his son 90 kilometers north of Attawapiskat to participate in the annual Spring Harvest (caribou, geese, fishing)… to packing up his guitar and once again heading “south” for a second visit to Canadian Music Week…

James Bay roots-rockers Midnight Shine will take to the stage in Toronto on the following dates:
Tuesday April 18
Tranzac Club @ 10:00pm
ANDPVA Showcase (Association for Native Development in the Performing and Visual Arts)
Thursday April 20
Hardrock Café @ 10:00pm
CMW Showcase
Friday  April 21
The Hideout @ 12 midnight
CMW Showcase
Saturday April 22
Private Showcase @ 4:30pm
“We’re looking forward to returning to Toronto,” says Sutherland. “These last few weeks have been a whirlwind, to say the least. But we know that in order to keep moving forward with our music, we need to attend events like Canadian Music Week and make the most of every opportunity to perform, and continue learning about the industry.”

SISTER LOVE – NEW RADIO SINGLE:

On March 13, Midnight Shine released a beautiful new single called Sister Love – a song that holds special meaning for Sutherland: “It’s about trying to free yourself from the burdens and struggles we sometimes have to carry. Some of us get stuck in a hard place, and when we do, it would be nice to go back to those days when life was simpler. In our thoughts we can go there, and be in that place again, even just for a brief moment. That’s what the song means to me.”
Also special to Adrian is the fact he co-wrote Sister Love with his own sister Iris Sutherland: “The idea was inspired by a poem my sister wrote. We made some changes to the lyrics to make it fit into a song structure, I came up with the melody, and we put it all together. That’s how Sister Love came to be.”
Sister Love is starting to make inroads on rock and community radio across Canada. Listen to Sister Love here! https://midnightshine.bandcamp.com/track/sister-love

ABOUT MIDNIGHT SHINE:

Not many bands play their very first show opening for legendary Canadian rockers like Trooper. Then again, not many bands are quite like Midnight Shine. The Northern Ontario foursome is turning heads with a sound that seamlessly mixes roots, classic and modern rock. Anchored by the melodic vocals and eloquent lyrics of singer/songwriter Adrian Sutherland from Attawapiskat, their music is not only radio-friendly, but also explores Cree culture, tradition and life in the North with depth and meaning. They’re a ‘must-hear’ band you’ll take a real shine to. “One foot in the past, one in the here and now…”

SELECT MEDIA COVERAGE:
Midnight Shine’s visit to Canadian Music Week last year created a massive media buzz resulting in 165+ stories – including a sit-down interview with Wendy Mesley for CBC’s The National, front page of the Toronto Star’s entertainment section, live performance and interview on CTV’s Canada AM, Canadian Press, Daily Vice, National Post, Metro News Canada, Hamilton Spectator, Winnipeg Free Press, Calgary Herald, and many many more. Media outlets from Victoria to Charlottetown picked up their extraordinary story – quite possibly making Midnight Shine the first ever “indie” band to garner nationwide media attention before even setting foot on tour…
