Canada’s MinorityVR Creates Virtual Reality App For U.S. TV Broadcaster, A&E Networks, That Enjoys Strong Debut in Samsung Gear Oculus Store

MinorityVR Heads To MIPTV In April For Panel Presentation on Canadian Advances in Virtual Reality
Montreal, Monday, April 4, 2016 – Montreal’s MinorityVR recently launched its three virtual reality (VR) experiences to great success on February 14, as companion pieces to A&E Networks’ Fall Into Me online dramatic series.

The dramatic series is made up of 8 x 15 minute capsules, available on A&E.com. Each vignette tells the story of characters finding love in unexpected places. In an exciting first, MinorityVR has created three first person point-of-view VR companion experiences, based on an existing series, that viewers can watch on their Samsung Gear VR, or via YouTube 360, Google Play and, soon, the Apple Store. Each experience puts the viewer into the body of the female protagonist of the series as she gets seduced.

MinorityVR is the only Canadian company to have content commissioned by A&E Networks that’s currently available as an app in the Samsung Oculus Store. Both the 2D series and the VR experiences are available on various VR platforms for viewers to enjoy.

Following on the heels of their successful partnership with A&E Networks, MinorityVR is announcing the appointment of Gary R. Carter (former Co-CEO at Endemol Shine Group, Chairman at Shine Group, and COO/CCO at Fremantlemedia Group) as Senior Creative and Strategic Advisor. “Gary’s deep understanding of storytelling and his extensive experience in international business development are unparalleled in the industry. We’re very excited to start working with him in bringing broadcasters onto the VR platform,” says MinorityVR’s Senior VP, Isabelle Anouk Bourduas.

Building on this momentum, MinorityVR is heading to Cannes for MIPTV from April 4-7. They’ll be one of four companies taking part in the Telefilm Canada/Canada Media Fund (CMF) panel presentation in the Canadian Pavilion, highlighting exciting new developments in VR in Canada. With 2016 dubbed “The year of virtual reality”, this event will showcase how Canadian creators are poised to meet the growing demand for VR through innovative technology and storytelling. On Tuesday, April 5, at 11:45 am in the Agora, Palais-1, Bourduas, will give a presentation spotlighting sister company, Minority Media’s, first VR game, Time Machine, along with MinorityVR’s groundbreaking new television content.

Two of MinorityVR’s founding partners are available for interviews at MIPTV: Isabelle Anouk Bourduas (Senior VP) and Christina Fon (Chief Operating Officer). A third founding partner, MinorityVR’s Senior VP of Creative Affairs, Michael Zaidan, is available for interviews from their head offices in Montreal.
