SAUKIING ANISHNAABEKIING, ON – The Saugeen Ojibway Nation Environment Office (SON EO) is proud to announce the upcoming Free, Prior and Informed Consent Conference 2018: Empowering Our Future. The conference will be held October 24 – 26, 2018 at the Blue Mountain Inn Conference Centre.
First Nations people have always been and will continue to be advocates and carers of the land. As new developments occur, free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) not only allows for First Nations communities to be involved in the process, but to have their voices be heard. FPIC Conference 2018 will provide participants with the tools, knowledge and support to implement FPIC principles in their own communities.
In bringing together leaders, experts and First Nations communities, this conference will create
a forum of discussion, learning and advancement. Participants will have the opportunity to learn
from professionals in the field, hear about successes and challenges of other First Nations communities, as well as new developments within the field. Discussions will cover a range of topics, including: business, culture, education, legal developments and the indigenous perspective.
