SEEKING ABORIGINAL ILLUSTRATOR FOR CHILDREN’S BOOK PROJECT

SEEKING ABORIGINAL ILLUSTRATOR FOR CHILDREN’S BOOK PROJECT

Caitlin Press is seeking expressions of interest from First Nations, Inuit and Metis artists for the creation of contemporary illustrations for upcoming children’s book projects.

DWD-sidebarOur most recent children’s book, Dipnetting with Dad, was written by Willie Sellars and illustrated by Kevin Easthope. The book was shortlisted for the Chocolate Lily Award and the Shining Willow Award, was an Ontario Library Association’s “Best Bet” for 2014, and won the Moonbeam Children’s Book Award Gold Medal for first picture book. Dipnetting with Dad tells a contemporary First Nations story of a father teaching his son the Secwepemc method of fishing known as dipnetting.

Interested candidates should send a brief cover letter–including a short biography (50-100 words) and brief description of some past projects (up to 100-200 words)–along with links to digital samples to the publisher, Vici Johnstone, at vici@caitlin-press.com.
