THE ART FOR AID PROJECT: AN INFUSION OF FUNDING FOR THE KITIGANIK SCHOOL

THE ART FOR AID PROJECT: AN INFUSION OF FUNDING FOR THE KITIGANIK SCHOOL

The 2015 fundraising effort has closed for the Kitiganik School in Rapid Lake, Quebec and we would like to extend 1,000 Miigwetches to the donors and supporters who helped us reach our goal for this school.

The Art For Aid Project Founder, Colleen Gray met with Shirley Whiteduck, Principal of the Rapid Lake school on January 14th to pick up the bank draft and a few 2016 calendars that feature some of the children and staff of the school. Shirley indicated that the children will be an ongoing participant in the schools efforts to highlight the art and poetry of the Rapid Lake students, all of which will be featured on our website.

The 2015 year was a successful one and The Art For Aid Project will begin fundraising for a new school for 2016. We are looking forward to engaging our funders and fans to help us replenish the art supply cupboards in a Canadian Aboriginal school at the end of the 2016 effort. Please watch for our posts, and talk about us, like our page on Facebook, follow our Tweets and visit our website at www.artforaid.ca for updates and new initiatives.

Artwork by Metis Artist, Colleen Gray is unique and powerful, and is available to purchase online all year long with proceeds going towards the 2016 collection for a school soon to be announced. For more information on this initiative or to recommend a school for this project, please contact us at artforaid2013@gmail.com or through social media.
