Governor Generals Medal-winning photographer and publisher Mark Zelinski presents photographs, stories from his highly anticipated new book Heart of Turtle Island: The Niagara Escarpment with a musical performance by Mohawk musician Logan Staats co-star of CTV “The Launch”, traditional Anishinaabe healer and author Kenn Pitawanakwat of Wikwemikong, Beth Gilhespy CEO Bruce Trail Conservancy and other Special Guests. Heart of Turtle Island: The Niagara Escarpment brings exquisite focus to the environmental treasures of the magnificent Niagara Escarpment, celebrating the diverse Indigenous and settler communities that thrive along its rugged, curving path.
Zelinski: “The book was created to familiarize a new generation of Canadians with the living Escarpment, its geological, cultural, environmental significance and the importance of its protection for future generations.

About Mark Zelinski: Mark Zelinski trained as an artist and designer graduating as the top student of OCAD in 1979. His diverse career as a professional photographer has taken him across 80 countries, with clients ranging from The National Film Board of Canada to Panasonic. He is also a publisher, writer, painter, filmmaker and winner of the Canadian Governor General’s Medal. Zelinski is best known for his Books That Heal initiative – donating 7,000 copies of his photography books to 100 worldwide charities.
