Submission period closes February 28, 2018
The Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre’s publishing unit is now accepting submissions for a new anthology called Voice: Appropriation and Representation in Canada, to be published in 2018. The anthology will feature works created by Indigenous Canadian writers, and will focus on cultural appropriation and Indigenous representation in this country and its effects, from a historical or contemporary perspective.
We are looking for pieces in the areas of fiction, creative non-fiction, essay, or poetry. Your work must address the anthology’s theme in compelling ways from an Indigenous perspective and will be assessed based on artistic and educational merit.
Word length: 2,500-5,000 words for fiction, non-fiction, or essay. Two to three pieces for poetry, with a submission maximum of five.
Payment: 7¢/word for fiction, non-fiction, or essay and $75 per published poem. Electronic submissions only. Please send your piece(s) on a .doc file, along with a brief bio and a list of previously published works, to publishing[at]mfnerc[dot]com
