2016 PREMIER’S AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN THE ARTS | ENTER YOUR NOMINATIONS BY DECEMBER 1, 2015!

October 7, 2015 – Nominations for the Government of Ontario’s Premier’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts are open. These awards are an excellent opportunity to recognize the leadership, innovation, creativity and talent that Ontario’s professional artists and arts organizations bring to communities across the province. We hope you consider submitting a nomination and also share information about the awards with your community.

You know how arts and culture breathe life into communities across our province and how the arts contribute to Ontario’s economy, vitality and well-being. Shine a spotlight on this activity – nominate an artist or arts organization.

The awards are conferred in two categories: an individual artist award of $35,000 and an arts organization award of $50,000.

Nominations can recognize a candidate engaged in any art form or artistic practice including:

  • book and magazine publishing
  • cultural industries (such as digital media, film, television and sound recording)
  • craft
  • dance
  • literature
  • media arts
  • music
  • theatre
  • visual arts

Nominations are due December 1, 2015. Your nomination package must be postmarked by Canada Post or a courier company on or before the deadline.

For more than 50 years, the Ontario Arts Council has played a vital role in promoting and assisting the development of the arts for the enjoyment and benefit of Ontarians. In 2014-15, the Ontario Arts Council funded 1,709 individual artists and 1,078 organizations in 204 communities across Ontario for a total of$52.1 million.
