About Dignified Records
Indigenous voices, stories and culture have faced extensive marginalization from the impacts of colonization including the atrocities committed through residential schools. With Canada’s recent Truth & Reconciliation Commission process there is a momentum of progressive healing. Arts and culture are and continue to be a source of strength for Indigenous people. In the current shift, it is a timely moment in sharing our voices and arts including through music. Dignified Records focus on operating as an independent record label is celebrating and sharing Indigenous music in the larger social spectrum of society.
Dignified Records founder Curtis Clear Sky’s past experience includes extensive non-profit and community-based administration, project management, social enterprise business development, extensive facilitation and grant writing. In the mid 2000’s through the Knowledgeable Aboriginal Youth Association Curtis organized numerous Indigenous youth hip-hop projects and music events including album compilation projects. As an Artist/Entrepreneur with his band, Curtis Clear Sky and the Constellationz is the first act on the roster.
