About the Speaker: Alex Jacobs-Blum
Alex Jacobs-Blum (Lower Cayuga of Six Nations/ German), is a lens-based artist and curator based in Ohròn:wakon (Hamilton, ON). Jacobs-Blum’s deep passion for community, relationship building, uplifting youth and challenging settler colonialism are integral to her practice and methodology. She strives to empower change by pushing boundaries to disrupt institutional spaces. Jacobs-Blum received a Bachelor of Photography at Sheridan College in 2015, where she was awarded the Canon Award of Excellence for Narrative Photography for her thesis. Since then, her artistic work has been exhibited at the University of Ottawa, Centre[3] for Artistic + Social Practice, the Woodland Cultural Centre, and Critical Distance Centre for Curators.

The BIPOC Curatorial Mentorship Program is generously supported by funds from the Department of Canadian Heritage.

À propos d’Alex Jacobs-Blum
Alex Jacobs-Blum (Lower Cayuga des Six-Nations/Allemande) est une artiste et commissaire basée à Ohròn:wakon (Hamilton, Ont.). Sa passion profonde pour la communauté, la création de liens, la motivation des jeunes et la remise en question du colonialisme est au cœur de sa pratique et de son approche. Alex Jacobs-Blum s’efforce d’encourager le changement en repoussant les limites des espaces institutionnels. Elle a obtenu un baccalauréat en photographie du Collège Sheridan (2015), où elle a reçu le prix Canon pour la photographie narrative, décerné aux diplômé.e.s méritant.e.s. Depuis, son travail artistique a été exposé à l’Université d’Ottawa, au Centre [3] for Artistic + Social Practice, au Centre culturel de Woodland et au Critical Distance Centre for Curators.

Le programme de mentorat de commissaires d’exposition PANDC bénéficie de l’appui généreux du ministère du Patrimoine canadien.
