HILLBERG & BERK RELEASES ITS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED 2018 COLLECTION

The campaign marks a yearlong collaboration with the new face of Hillberg & Berk, Ashley Callingbull, the first Indigenous woman to win Mrs. Universe

August 28, 2017 (Regina, Saskatchewan) — Today Saskatchewan-based jeweller Hillberg & Berk released the first palette of its 2018 collection. Inspired by the rugged Canadian landscape of the Saskatchewan Badlands, the Autumn Collection features speckled dalmatian jasper, bronze-hued hematite and matte gemstones set in fiery metallics.

“Each piece has been thoughtfully designed to stay true to our Hillberg & Berk aesthetic of asymmetry, natural inclusions, bold silhouettes, and lots of sparkle,” says Hillberg & Berk founder and CEO, Rachel Mielke. “It is my hope that each time our customer wears a piece of jewellery from this collection, she is reminded to embrace her own unique sparkle and celebrate the beauty of imperfections.”

The collection also marks the start of a year-long partnership with the new face of Hillberg & Berk, Ashley Callingbull, who was the first Indigenous woman to win the title of Mrs. Universe. A member of the Enoch Cree Nation near Edmonton, Alberta, Callingbull is the embodiment of a “Woman Who Sparkles.” While she might be best known for her historic participation in the Mrs. Universe pageant and her recent appearance on Amazing Race Canada, Callingbull is most proud of her role as motivational speaker, mentor and activist.

“I want to be known for helping others and giving back. A lot of people are afraid to speak up, but to have a voice is a powerful thing,” says Callingbull. “If I empower someone, who will they empower next? Having an empowered woman around is a strong thing. It has a ripple effect to empower others.”

Hillberg & Berk’s visually striking Autumn Collection campaign was shot at Big Muddy in the Saskatchewan Badlands, a setting that compliments the earthy quality of the jewellery itself. The collection includes print, texture, coppery tones and mixed metals that are reflective of the sunset and sandy tones of the unique area. The campaign celebrates the beauty of Canada and the diverse landscape it has to offer.

The 2018 Collection is available at Hillberg & Berk retail locations, on hillbergandberk.com and at authorised resellers nationwide.
