We’re partnering with the High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom on a new four-part series that pays tribute to members of the Indigenous music vanguard in Canada. The project is called Honour Song and each episode broadcasts for free on our YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Each episode will include a traditional welcoming message from Elder Sherry Copenace, Martha Peet, or Peter Parisian along with a one song performance and a conversation about excellence, systemic barriers, and innovation in First Nation, Métis, or Inuit music.
iskwē paid tribute to the iconic Kinnie Starr in the first episode and PIQSIQ is set to honour the esteemed Susan Aglukark in episode two. We’ll announce the trailblazers for episodes three and four in the weeks leading up to each broadcast.
Please watch episode one and set a YouTube reminder for the rest of the series.
