THE MANITO AHBEE FESTIVAL IS CELEBRATING ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY

INDIGENOUS MUSIC AWARDS

The awards program marks its 10th year in September 2015 and the free online voting program is comprised of two rounds. The first round is for Industry voters only – music industry professionals, promoters, labels, and artists. These votes determine the nominees in each category.

The list of nominees in all adjudicated categories (3 submissions per category are required to adjudicate) will be announced on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 and then the second round of voting will begin. The second round of voting is free, online, and open to the public around the globe, until July 24, 2015, to determine the winners. Nominees are encouraged to ‘Promote Their Vote’ through social media and additional marketing mediums.

The awards will be presented over one day at two separate events. The first event, entitled the IMA – RBC ‘Ohshkii Awards Showcase’ will take place prior to the live show on Friday, September 11, and is by invitation for Nominees, Industry Voters, Special Guests and Sponsors, with additional tickets for sale.The second event is televised live at 8:00 pm on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network from the MTS Centre on Friday, September 11. A Pre-Awards Reception and APTN Red Carpet precede the live show.

MANITO AHBEE FESTIVAL INFO

Manito Ahbee Festival celebrates and showcases Indigenous music, art and culture in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada from September 9 – 13, 2015. The Festival components include: The Indigenous Music Awards – September 11. Youth Education Day- September 10 & 11, International Pow Wow – September 12 & 13, Indigenous Marketplace and Trade Show – September 12 & 13, Getting Jiggy With It – Square Dance and Jigging contest – September 12 & 13, Oh My Gospel Jamboree – date TBD.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Saturday, June 20th- Be a part of the celebration for National Aboriginal Day by joining us at The Forks National Historical Site for the Aboriginal Day Pow Wow. Grand Entry starts at 1:00pm. Please register prior to Grand Entry. This is a collaborative event presented by APTN and the Manito Ahbee Festival.

Tuesday, June 23rd – Join Manito Ahbee at Portage Place Centre Court in downtown Winnipeg at 11:00 am for recognition of the returning Presenting Sponsor – Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries and the announcement of the Nominees for the 2015 Indigenous Music Awards. We will also be announcing new and exciting partnerships.This event features special guests and musical performances and will be streamed live on the APTN website. Worldwide public voting for the IMA’s begins this day as well, so make your vote count!
